Artist Statement

Gesture, light, figures and landscapes are what I seek to represent in my work. I am moved by the beauty of the physical world; the light that hits its landscapes and those that inhabit it. I try to capture this in my paintings and photographs.

My process around making art is seldom deliberate. It is a spontaneous act. It involves many mistakes and a lot of magic. Rarely do I have an idea of what I would like to create when beginning something. I start with color and an initial shape or figure which is buried and then excavated again. Layering and un-layering until the piece is finished. My process is intuitive, not selective.
